Meet Debbie Seibold Egeland

Debbie Seibold Egeland is passionate about helping Jacobs’ clients create decarbonization roadmaps and creating a more sustainable future for all.

When looking at university majors with her mom and dad, they identified the growing field of environmental engineering. Debbie's best friend’s mom had a similar career working in air quality for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. With her love of nature and math she thought it sounded like a fun and rewarding profession with the opportunity to give back and do her part to make the world a little better.

She joined Jacobs 18 years ago and relocated to Singapore from Seattle, Washington, U.S. in 2019. Debbie acknowledges the technical and economic challenges of decarbonization but is confident they can reasonably be solved as long as we continue to work collaboratively and focus on developing and utilizing rapidly evolving technologies and strategies and view the process as a constant evolution.

Debbie has broad experience offering a range of decarbonization solutions including identifying possible reductions in embodied carbon, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) assessments to identify gaps, low-carbon energy studies for challenging geographies, energy efficiency studies, climate resiliency studies and hydrogen fuel cell feasibility studies.

She’s proud to work with our APAC and global leadership team to grow and train our sustainability team in Asia,  Australia and New Zealand. She enjoys working with a diverse group of smart and collegiate people on projects that she can feel good about.

Before moving to Singapore, Debbie was also a volunteer transporting disadvantaged shelter dogs from the Southeast of the U.S. over to Seattle for adoption. She was known as a dog and cat ”adoption specialist” in Seattle and found it rewarding to fly the dogs to Seattle and be a pet ”matchmaker.”

Today her spare time is kept busy swimming, cuddling her three kids and coaching them in soccer, golfing with her husband, eating chocolate ice cream while watching Netflix, talking over the phone with her parents back in the U.S. and walks and talks with friends.
